Students hacked into school system and changed grades.
Depending on your vantage point, students hacking into a school system and changing grades might either sound cool or horrifying. In this case, for the school officials, teachers, and parents of Churchill High School, it was the latter. Considered a premier school with 2,100 students that have a 98% graduation rate and some of the highest SAT scores in the country, it’s easy to see why Churchill High School officials would freak out over a security breach. But for many of the students, it can also be scary to know one of your peers has access to all of your confidential and private records.
A high school teacher was beaten repeatedly by a student.
At South Division High School, a teacher was beaten in the head repeatedly by a 16-year-old student in a classroom. Students stood around and watched the incident take place while videotaping it. The video quickly spread all over the internet.
Fraternity practiced disturbing hazing during "Hell Week."
Pledges of the Pi Alpha Nu fraternity at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh said they were horrifically hazed during their time in the frat house. During “Hell Week,” frat leaders made the pledges drink a gallon of water, wine, vinegar, and milk until they threw up. They would make the brothers throw up on top of them and even have urine thrown at them.
A boarding school in Iowa tortured teenagers.
At Midwest Academy in Keokuk, Iowa, a school for troubled teenagers, several students made claims of abysmal torture practices. School officials would keep students in small concrete isolation boxes for days and sometimes weeks. They wouldn’t let the students out unless they sat in a specific posture for 24 hours. As of 2016, the school was being investigated by the FBI.
School children in Peru suffer from a "contagious demonic possession."
At the Elsa Perea Flores School in Peru, it all started simply as 20 children becoming ill. Not long after, however, over 100 children became ill with all the same symptoms, fainting, vomiting, delirium, and frothing at the mouth. Even more troubling, they all claimed to have seen the same thing, “a tall man in black with a beard” trying to kill them. Education officials claimed it was a case of “contagious demonic possession.”
