Life hacks are supposed to give us cheap, elegant and smart ways of dealing with everyday problems. As these little tricks have become popular among millions of people all over the world, it comes as no surprise that the internet is now literally flooded with all kinds of hacks. We at List25 love these useful tricks too, and we have already published a few posts with some cool hacks such as these 25 Simple Life Hacks Every Dog Owner Should Know, these 25 Easy Life Hacks You Should Not Be Living Without or these 25 Life Hacks Every College Student Should Know. To show you some of the worst of these that you should definitely avoid, we compiled this list with 25 hacks that are actually far from helpful. From debunked kitchen hacks to ineffective cleaning hacks, make sure not to try any of these 25 Life Hacks That Actually Don’t Help Make Your Life Better.
Urinating on a jellyfish sting
You have probably heard this one, but no, pee does not heal a jellyfish sting. Actually, if someone pees on your jellyfish sting, it will only increase the pain even more by aggravating the venom.

Popcorn kernel hack
A popular hack says that to get the unpopped kernels out of your popcorn, you just open your bag enough so that the kernels can escape but the popped popcorn can’t. Then, you hold the bag upside down and shake until all the kernels come out. Unfortunately, there’s not enough room in the bag to shift all the kernels around, which makes this hack ineffective.
Hair of the dog
There are many “guaranteed” hangover remedies, including the one that says “bite the dog that bit you.” In other words, if you drank too much vodka last night, you should fight the hangover with more vodka the next day. Needless to say, this hack is just as bad as it sounds.
Applying toothpaste on pimple
Most toothpastes contain menthol, which can dry the skin out and irritate it. Therefore, applying toothpaste on a pimple does not help. However, it might actually soothe minor burns.
Ketchup bottle as pancake batter dispenser
Technically, this hack works, but it definitely will not make your life easier as getting the batter in the bottle is a very messy process, and there is a good chance that the batter might vaguely taste of the ketchup.
