Meet the New “Ninja Lanternshark”


Scientists have discovered a new species of shark, one with jet-black skin, bulbous eyes, and special cells that allow it to glow in the dark. They call it the Ninja Lanternshark.

Officially named after Peter Benchley, shark-lover and the author of Jaws, the shark’s scientific name is Etmopterus benchleyi. But to come up with the shark’s common name, researcher Vicky Vásquez says she drew on a conversation she had with her 8-year-old cousins.

"Extinct" Sea Snakes Rediscovered


Surveying off the coast of Western Australia, researchers have discovered two species of rare and endangered sea snakes, thought to have become extinct 15 years ago. Sued Over Old Debt, and Blocked From Suing Back


Clifford Cain Jr., a retired electrician in Baltimore, was used to living on a tight budget, carefully apportioning his Social Security and pension benefits to cover his rent and medication for multiple sclerosis.

So Mr. Cain was puzzled when he suddenly could not make ends meet. Months later, he discovered why: A debt collector had garnished his bank account after suing him for about $4,500 the company said he owed on an old debt.

‘Dreamcast 2′ Reportedly Under Development, Could Be a PC-Console Hybrid


There’s been excitement over a possible sequel to the SEGA Dreamcast, dubbed the “Dreamcast 2,” 17 years after the console made its debut. The project seeks to bring a PC-style Dreamcast 2 console to the market.

Patrick Lawsen, a member of the SEGA Dreamcast 2 group that aims to revive the brand, said there’s been some progress in the project. He said there’s a group has the help from some “SEGA of Japan interns and independent OEM designers,” CinemaBlend reported.

Baghdad holds Miss Iraq pageant for the first time in 43 years


When Shaima Qasim was crowned Miss Iraq this weekend, she not only triumphed over the other women in the competition but over threats against her life.

The pageant was the first to be held in Baghdad in 43 years.
